Teachers and Parents! If you have the luxury of having a microwave in your classroom, this is a great addition to accommodate your students when warming up their lunches or doing a cooking lesson. This can also be done in the home setting as well! Depending on the level of your student/child, there are a variety of ways you can go about teaching them how to utilize the visuals to build independence using a microwave.
Non-Readers
For students that need more/direct prompting, point to the microwave time on the package and have the student make a match by finding the same time on the velcro strip. Then, help them put the correct time onto the microwave velcro strip. From there, they may need more prompting to input each number. If your student does not know to hit the start button after inputting the numbers, there is a visual for that as well!
Readers
Have them match the time on the package to a time on the velcro strip individually. Then, have them input the correct time and hit start, with minimal prompting! Eventually, they will not need to use the visuals once they get used to identifying the time on the package and inputting on the microwave.
